Summer of Love - USA Tour 2019
We were quite lucky to add some miles to summer covering quite a bit of the west coast, NY, NJ and one of many highlights was my first trunk show in Houston, Texas!
First impression of Houston was it is very spacious, clean, and the locals super nice.
Events Gifts is a landmark Luxe Gift store known for it’s high end customizable gifts, wrapping and delivery. Crystal Czech chandeliers, tabletops, stemware, flatware, stationery, books, candles, vases…. One will not leave empty handed.
The first Houstonian to come see me is the fabulous fashion photographer Jay Marroquin (Named 10 Best Fashion & Lifestyle Photographers in Houston 2019). I met Jay in Bali in 2015 when he was visiting, and we shot my ‘BF’ Rock & Roll lifestyle campaign with Gail Lewis and Pearson Knight. I was excited to hear that he is engaged to a beautiful Thai lady Fon and they are having a wedding in Bangkok in December. He is one lucky guy and I wish them both eternal happiness.
I was introduced to Events by my hostess with the hostess Humaira Keller whom I also met in Bali through a friend. All of her bestie’s came, many of them already wearing my jewelry and all of Houston is sporting John Hardy Jewelry! It is no secret I was hired in NYC to move to Bali in ’97 and run the sample department for JH as Head Designer.
The event was exciting and buzzing and I found everyone super easy to talk to and appreciative of the unique Bespoke pieces.
I was made to feel very welcome, and 2 nights in this beautiful city is not enough.
Regina Garcia, the owner of Events invited me back for a private event in November, and I am so looking forward to going back, meeting more people and experiencing more of what Houston has to offer.

Pop-up in gorgeous Southampton, Long Island, NY
July 4th weekend, we were invited to the home and studio of prolific painter Paton Miller.
We first met Paton, Nancy and their boys when they came to Bali 13-years ago for a surfing summer holiday. They rented the house next door to ours in Canggu, 2-years in a row, and we shared the pool. We had an immediate affinity with the family, and every time we went to New York, they invited us out to Southampton, to their converted farmhouse. They are the warmest family and it’s always a joy to spend time with them.
This summer, our NYC pop-up was canceled, so they invited us to have an event at their place. Joined by Talis-Elements, a new jewelry brand, long-time friend and talented textiles artist Mary Jaeger, and a Sag Harbor local Eleni Prieston of Made Sag Harbor Also joined by budding blogger & stylist Kelsey Nord., (the anti-newyorker). The weather looked overcast so we set-up in Paton’s warehouse studio. It was a fun day meeting interesting locals and NY weekender’s. Plenty of rosé and snacks kept us fueled up.
The next day we took a trip out to see Grain Surfboards in Amagansett. It was not what I was expecting in a surf shop. They give workshops for participants to build their own boards out of wood. Very eco and set in a large red school house looking building, they also hold art shows.
Sag Harbor for lobster rolls and checked out the huge yachts, and Donna Karan’s Urban Zen, a boutique and homewares set around the spacious dining rooms. Driving back through the side roads of Bridgehampton, we popped into an amazing estate, Bridge Gardens on Mitchell Lane, which was closed but snuck in just a bit to see a few amazing sculptures in the entrance area.
Always look forward to going back to this part of Long Island.
*stay tuned for more of the tour…
